However, plan infrastructure modernisation when data is siloed in legacy systems with poor accessibility, you need to scale AI across multiple use cases enterprise-wide, current architecture cannot support production ML workloads, or governance and compliance requirements exceed your current capabilities. The pragmatic approach is parallel tracks: deliver value with quick wins on existing infrastructure while planning and executing infrastructure modernisation in phases. Avoid lift-and-shift migrations that simply move legacy architectures to the cloud without redesign, as this creates technical debt.
